Buzz is growing for “Till,” but especially Danielle Deadwyler‘s lead performance. I’m being told the film is VERY well-directed even though it’s screenplay is fairly conventional. Chukwu wrote and directed the Sundance-winning “Clemency” and although I wasn’t a major fan of that film, it was exceptionally well-shot by Chukwu. She definitely has the chops to pull “Till” off and is definitely a directorial talent to watch out for. However, as mentioned, “Till” is going to be Deadwyler’s movie. Test-screenings have been really well-received. Despite the biopic/courtroom drama tropes on display here, I’m starting to suspect this could be a major acting showcase. Deadwyler’s work already looked fantastic in the trailer, released just last month. I’m being told that it’s total powerhouse work from Deadwyler, in a very chewy role. I’ve heard enough great things about her work in “Till,” where she plays a mother grieving and fighting her 14-year-old son’s murder, that I suspect she could get Oscar nominated. Chukwu’s film is slated for a primo October 21st release date. Contribute Hire me
