“The Irishman,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Marriage Story,” “Parasite,” “1917,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Little Women,” “Joker,” “Ford v Ferrari,” “Bombshell.” Are we in the midst of living through OscarSoWhite 2.0? The only one of those movies to star non-white characters is Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite,” and acting nominations do not favor any non-white actors/actresses either. It’s definitely not impossible for a non-white actor to get a nomination this year — longshots include Jamie Foxx in “Just Mercy,” Awkwafina in “The Farewell” and Lupita Nyong’o in “Us,” other than that it looks as though it’ll be another rough year for African-American creatives at the Oscars.
