The lineup for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival has been announced and it looks like an upgrade from this past January’s virtual edition. There are bigger directing names, that’s for sure. What I’m circling right now are new works from the likes of Nicole Holofcener (“You Hurt My Feelings”), Ira Sachs (“Passages”), Sebastian Silva (“Rotting in the Sun”), Brandon Cronenberg (“Infinity Pool”), William Oldroyd (“Eileen”) and Cory Finley (“Landscape of Invisible Hand”). I would have to imagine that “Eileen” and “Passages” are locked for Berlin competition as well. This year’s edition of the festival had a few breakouts, such as “Living,” “Resurrection,” “Watcher,” “Fire of Love,” “Navalny,” “Emily the Criminal,” “God’s Country,” “All That Breathes,” “Speak No Evil,” “Fresh,” “Leo Grande” and “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” The 2023 Festival will take place January 19–29 in person in Park City, Salt Lake City. A selection of films will be available online across the United States from January 24–29. That selection will include all competition films, but not films designated as premieres.
