NOTES: Wes Anderson decided to have all 10 of listed films from France. Former romantic partners Olivier Assayas and Mia Hansen-Love share three picks (“Napoleon,” “La Maison des Bois” and “The Leopard.”) Ari Aster lists the Coens’ underrated “A Serious Man” Bertrand Bonello clearly believes “Twin Peaks: The Return” is a movie (so do I). Peter Greenway has “Gladiator” on his list. Bong Joon-ho has “Mad Max: Fury Road” on his list. Hirokazu Kore-eda clearly loves Altman’s “Shortcuts” (and we’re totally for that). Unlike his 2012 list, Michael Mann no longer lists “Avatar,” but does have Inarritu’s critically maligned “Bitutiful.” Oliver Stone has “Avatar” in his top 10. Adam McKay has “Office Space. George Millers lists recent fare such as “Boyhood,” “Parasite” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” SS Rajamouli’s entire list is BONKERS. Nicolas Windig Refn has “It’s A Wonderful Life” Apichatpong Weerasethakul has “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Max Mad: Fury Road.” What other picks stood out for y’all? There’s so much to sift through here, and, as mentioned, I’ll probably be adding another 15 lists or so today, so, much more to come … Contribute Hire me
