Texas chain Santikos Entertainment had three of its San Antonio-based theaters reopen over the past weekend. The results were overwhelmingly positive as close to 3,000 tickets were sold for a total gross of close to $16,000 over the three-day period. [via THR] The films that were being shown included “Trolls World Tour,” “Bloodshot,” “I Still Believe,” “The Hunt,” and “Bad Boys for Life.” Tickets for general admission were $5. This is a clearcut sign that maybe some folks are ready to go back to theaters and watch movies again. Will this cause a domino-effect? Chains such as AMC and Regal are praying daily for the stars to align and the first major release scheduled in July, Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet,” to open business back up with a bang. Wishful thinking? Who knows, but movies like “Bloodshot,” “The Hunt,” and “Trolls World Tour,” are available to watch on VOD, and on much safer grounds than the enclosed spaces of a theater.
