What will also not be ready for Cannes 2022 is Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “On Barren Weeds”. According to “Hanimal”, the film still needs to shoot more outdoor winter shots....

After a less-than-ideal premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, the filmmaker admitted that he rushed the movie to the festival by delivering what he called a “wet cut.” However, after the response at TIFF, Mackenzie went back to the editing bay and created a new cut of the highly-anticipated film. The mouse house’s streaming service has announced a near 10 million jump in total subscribers since the last quarter, jumping from 86 million to now a total of 95 million subscribers as of Jan. 2, 2021. The doc has appeared in Netflix’s top 10 most popular movies and TV shows list in September and is still listed in its Trending section. During the last week of September, it crept to the number one spot among the most-watched Netflix movies, which marks the first time a documentary has ever been the most popular movie on Netflix in any given month. The Netflix film, from director Jeff Orlowski, is a very spirited affair, but does feel overly-edited, heavy-handed, and isn’t necessarily breaking new ground in depicting the dangers of social media....

This latest “final” trailer is also the best one that’s been released. Gritty, real and artfully shot. What more do you want? I hope the movie exceeds expectations when it premieres at Venice later this week .Joaquin Phoenix as an Oscar contender is becoming more certain by the day … “Joker” is not an origin story as much as it is a crazy clown dude movie.I am fine with that....

The general consensus is that there was one episode in which everything changed, and that was “The Principal And The Pauper,” (Season 9) where we learn that Principal Skinner isn’t actually Principal Skinner at all, but is actually an impostor, completely rewriting years and years of back-story for characters we’ve known and loved. Others believe it was the Frank Grimes episode. in Season 8, that was the beginning of the end....

Usually, filmmakers try to avoid commenting on the negative reception their films get, they just leave it up to audiences and critics to do the talking. Not Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. His latest film, “Bardo,” has been mostly panned by critics, it’s become one of the big, if not the biggest, disappointment of the fall festival season. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Inarritu says the lukewarm reception his film received is from people who “misunderstood” his film: Wait, did Inarritu just hint at retirement?...

This week, Boyega snapped at a fan on Twitter who claimed “Rise of Skywalker” was an embarrassment, Boyega replied “Embarrassing? LOL you wish. Very fulfilling, some disappointments but yet not that big of a deal. It’s all part of the mouse house’s mass-cultural warfare against art, they want people to grow uncultured, to view “Toy Story 4” and “The Avengers” as the hippest and most important artistry available in theaters (dig those effects, man. Yeah, right....

Scott Feinberg has his latest predictions up on THR. A few eyebrows are being raised as people noticed he had Margot Robbie (Babylon) in the Supporting Actress category … If that’s the case, and I’m not 100% sure Feinberg is basing this on any intel, then one would surely assume that Robbie is now a major contender not just for a nomination, but a win. The people who saw “Babylon” this Spring believed Robbie would be campaigned as a Lead Actress, but that the whole of “Babylon” is very much an ensembly kinda thing....

Scorsese loved it so much that he went out of his way to pen a letter to A24 in which he gushes about the Mia Goth-starring film: It’s quite simply the best movie currently playing in theaters. A cinematic bonbon filled with mirth and malice. It’s also richly cinematic in its camera movements, photography and, really, just the entire mise-en-scene. Set during the 1918 pandemic, with plenty of townspeople wearing face masks, “Pearl” builds and fully fleshes out its anti-heroine (played by a deliciously twisted Mia Goth)....
