It seems as though new actors keep getting added on in an almost daily basis. I’ve stopped reporting on all the additions because, quite frankly, it’s turned ridiculous. As though Nolan is now just additionally shooting for deleted scenes. The main actors seem to be Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Sadie, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, and Alden Ehrenreich. I’m sure many more will be standouts, but these are the big names....

The latter has been in a constant state of intrigue. A 4-hour cut was assembled by Aster, we have no idea if that’s going to be the actual runtime for the theatrical release. We didn’t know if the film would even be coming out this year. Well, now we have a solid confirmation. A rep for A24 has confirmed to me that “Disappointment Blvd” will be released in 2023. Aiello earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance as Salvatore “Sal” Frangione in Spike Lee’s landmark “Do The Right Thing.” That, alone, is enough of a lasting legacy for any actor to dream of having, but Aiello was so much more than that. The Japanese release date of June 3rd, 2023 sets up a potential world premiere in May at Cannes, where Kore-eda has been a mainstay. In fact, he returned to Cannes this past May with “Broker,” which garnered mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. However, here’s the main dilemma the Academy has had these last few years: Whoever is chosen to host these 94th Academy Awards will be met with the utmost of scrutiny. Just ask Kevin Hart. Who in their right mind would want to host these 94th Oscars?...

The results will be very interesting to analyze as, when all is said and done, I expect The Godfather and The Godfather Part II to figure very much at the top of the heap. But what comes before, or after them? Because this was such a rich period in American movie history, participants are being asked to name 10-15 films unranked or ranked. Reviews are still embargoed. With all this glowing praise, please take into consideration that not many critics have actually seen Paul Thomas Anderson’s film.
