This inventive, bizarre and altogether jarring film won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It was a surprise win and absolutely no one expected it to be chosen as France’s Oscar selection over Venice winner, Audrey Diwan’s “Happening.” The main contenders this year, alongside “Titane,” are Paolo Sorrentino’s “Hand of God,” Joachim Trier’s “The Worst Person in the World,” Asghar Farhadi’s “A Hero,” Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car,” and Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s “Flee.” There have been 36 different countries who have submitted films so far this year. So far, 36 countries have announced submissions for the Best International Feature Oscar. A total of 93 countries participated in this category last year. That’s an astounding record-setting number and it’s set to be broken again this year. The shortlist will be revealed by the AMPAS on Dec. 15. The final five will be part of the Oscar nominations set for Feb. 8, 2022. Contribute Hire me
