The question that begs to be asked is quite simple; Did we really need this? Why does every successful original story need to be remade, rebooted and sequel-ized? Sometimes it’s best to leave a great movie alone. The structure of “Parasite” does indeed play out like it could be expanded into series-length, but we didn’t need an American remake of the film. And yet, Bong has been shopping around the idea of a remake since the summer. What he finally got wasn’t a remake per se, but, rather, an episodic venture with a limited amount of episodes. Bong seems very interested in American TV these days as he’s even professed his love for David Fincher’s “Mindhunter” and even expressed interest in directing a few episodes of the Netflix series. Also, his 2014 film “Snowpiercer” will have a TV series coming up later this year. So, it seems as though the South Korean filmmaker is clearly interested in building up a career in television as much as at the movies. Contribute Hire me
