It’s kind of surprising that of all the big titles being launched this fall, only one will be doing the four major festivals (NYFF, TIFF, Venice and Telluride). Not only is Laura Poitras’ “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” the Centerpiece selection for the 60th New York Film Festival, but it’s also that rare documentary to actually crack the Venice competition. TIFF has also announced the film as part of their lineup, but what about Telluride? Eric Kohn and David Ehrlich confirmed that “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” is indeed going to Telluride. The other fall films that came very close to making all four of the major fests: No Bears (Venice/Toronto/NYFF)Saint Omer (Venice/Toronto/NYFF)Un Couple (Venice/Toronto/NYFF)TAR (Venice/Telluride/NYFF) The Eternal Daughter (Venice/Toronto/NYFF) Neon Recently picked up Poitras’ film for release this awards season. The film will be in North American theaters this fall, to be followed by ancillary and digital release. Poitras’ film is said to tackle the American opioid epidemic via the eyes of “photographer Nan Goldin’s battle against the notorious big-pharma Sackler family.” The film is Poitras’ first feature since 2016’s “Risk.” She also directed the excellent Edward Snowden doc “Citizenfour” in 2014. Past films that went on to screen at all four of the major fests include “The Power of the Dog,” “Nomadland,” “ROMA,” and “Marriage Story.” Contribute Hire me
